Member Care Checklist - Part 2

Area 1. Faith - Spiritual Life

What are the purposes of Spiritual disciplines?

They are a means not an end. The goal is not to participate in spiritual disciplines. They are not a checklist to be completed.

Paul said “train yourself to be Godly.” They are a means to an end.

The purpose of spiritual disciplines are:
  • know Jesus better
  • become more like Jesus

Spiritual disciplines are a means to grow in your relationship with Jesus and to grow in character.

I believe every time I desire to pray, read the Bible, etc. the Holy Spirit is taking the initiative. I do not seek God on my own but the Holy Spirit draws me to spend time with the Father. Participating in spiritual disciplines is responding to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

Questions:

  • What is your spiritual temperature?
  • What areas in your life are you becoming more like Jesus?
  • What areas in your life do you need to grow in?
