Team Life Characteristics - Part 10

A leader can have a vision and develop a strategy but the vision will be realized one decision at a time. A good leader is a daily leader. They do not swoop in communicate vision and strategy then fly away. A good leaders understands leadership is a process. Leadership is daily. Vision accomplishment is dependent on making solid, aligned decisions.

I may buy into your vision but if I begin to question your decision making you have lost me. Good decisions are based upon experience and values. Some call it instincts but when you study someone who we claim has good instincts those instincts flow out of their experience and values.

I need to trust your vision, I also need to trust your character. Values reveal character. Values are not based on how you want people to behave. Values are based open how you do behave. I need to know your vision. I need to know your values as well.

For a leader to make good decisions, he needs team members who are willing to share their wisdom. If you think I am making a mistake, tell me beforehand. Telling me afterwards does me or the team no good.

Do not be silent. Speak. Take risks. Force yourself out of comfort zones. If I give you an opportunity to participate, then participate. Speak with the right attitude. Speak with humility. Do not own your position. Over time you will grow in influence.

Let God take care of promotions and positions. I have come to the place that if God does not want me to have it, I don’t want it. It will only bring heartbreak. Work on expanding God’s kingdom on this earth and leave everything else up to Him. He is sovereign. He is a King of a kingdom. I am his servant, living in obedience. My identity is who I am in Him not in my position or reputation. Getting a new position will increase your happiness for a limited amount of time then will reset to its normal setting. It's like purchasing a new car, eventually a position will lose its new car smell.

Be a good leader by collaborating. Be a good team member by sharing your wisdom. Leave the rest to our Lord.
